The Annual Bishop’s Dinner was organized in the year 2000 by Lady Virginia Zamboni and a devoted group of community volunteers as a special fund-raising gala.
Two years later, Bishop Barnes discussed the need to recognize those individuals who have given extraordinarily of their time, talent, and treasure to the Church community as well as providing significant leadership in improving the lives of people in the counties of Riverside and San Bernardino. Thus, the Amar es Entregarse Award was added to the program of the Bishop’s Dinner.
The goal of the dinner then, and still today, is to support the mission and build the future of our local Church, the Diocese of San Bernardino. With this in mind, one of the priorities for Bishop Barnes is vocations to the priesthood. All proceeds of the Dinner will be directed to the education of priestly vocations.
