History of Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi Parish started as a Mission of St. Edward Church, Corona, in 1993, with Sr. Lucille Martinez as Pastoral Coordinator. Masses were celebrated in the outside cafeteria at Home Gardens Elementary school with supply priests from the surrounding area.

On the Feast of Corpus Christ 1994, Bishop Phillip F. Straling officially designated Corpus Christi a parish and appointed Fr. Gerald DeLuney as pastor. The parish moved into a storefront rental with 203 registered families.

In February 2000, the newly purchased, newly renovated buildings, which had once been medical clinic facilities, made a permanent home for Corpus Christi. The beautiful little church building seats 750 and serves its now 2,031 registered families at four Spanish and three English weekend Masses.
